NEW This Season!!

Additional Training:

Strathmore Minor Soccer FUNdamental Skills Training

with Coaches Josh Pynten and Ryan Parkins

This training is open to all youth players, U9-U19, who want to work on their soccer skills.  We strongly encourage our Competitive Players to register for Skills Training, but you do NOT have to be on a Strathmore Minor Soccer Team in order to register!

FUNdamental Skills Training solidifies and builds upon fundamental game skills, such as passing, while introducing players to more advanced tactics. Beginning with focus on the individual role and expanding into developing a big picture outlook of on-field play, each session will have a primary topic and incorporate foundational elements like ball control. This NEW program improves performance and fitness, all while focusing on goal #1 - having fun!

Topic 1: Own the Ball (Ball control and spacial awareness)

Topic 2: Attack the Ball (Tenacity and knowing when to tackle)

Topic 3: Share the Ball (Passing and team play)

Topic 4: Support the Ball (Positioning and learning to read the play)

Topic 5: Shoot the Ball (Striking and review)

Competitive Program

Our Competitive teams participate in the Calgary Minor Soccer Association (CMSA) League, with practices being held in the Strathmore Motor Products Sports Centre and games taking place in Calgary indoor soccer facilities.  Games are scheduled by CMSA, who do their best to schedule our home games on the east side of the city.

Games begin on Saturday, October 26, with practices starting the week or two prior.

CMSA releases the game schedules on October 23.  Practices will be set around a team's game schedule.

Please CLICK HERE for CMSA League Structure.

Equipment:

SMSF provides new Competitive players with a jersey, shorts and socks to be worn during the season.  SMSF provides returning Competitive players with a jersey.  If previously provided shorts and socks have been outgrown, we will exchange them.  There is a $25 cash or cheque deposit due at time of pick-up on all jerseys, as they will be returned at the end of the season.  Your deposit will be returned upon receipt of the jersey.

You will need to provide shin pads, which must be worn when playing. For U9 and U10 players, black track pants may be worn under shorts in cold weather.

For the Outdoor season, soccer cleats are strongly recommended and must have rubber cleats that are permanently attached. Metal cleats are not allowed. Runners may be worn.   For the Indoor season, indoor soccer shoes are recommended, but indoor runners may be worn.

The rules of soccer do not allow for wearing of dangerous items which could cause injury to the wearer or other player such as jewelery, watches, and casts.

Please bring water to every session.

Note regarding teams:

Space may be limited. Player placement may be used to finalize teams as needed.

Players requesting to play outside their own age group will only be allocated after registration is complete and if the move will benefit the teams. Personal preference will not be the motivating factor, and each move will be discussed by the Board and relevant coaches prior to being confirmed.

IMPORTANT:

Please register your child if he/she wants to play.  We form our teams based on the number of players who register, so will not know what teams we will have until registration closes.  If people wait to see if there will be a team in their age group, then we end up not having enough players, even though there are kids who want to play "IF we have a team".

After registration closes we are able to evaluate team potentials, if we do not have a team, we will issue a full refund. The more players who register, the better the chance to be able to form a team. We can not predict a team if players do not register to play.  Thank you!
